Jesus was called to Bethany where his friends Martha, Mary and Lazarus lived. Jesus had received word that Lazarus had fallen ill. Instead of leaving right away for Bethany, Jesus stayed in Bethabara for two more days. Jesus told his disciples that Lazarus was dead. They went to Bethany and found that Lazarus had been buried for four days. Martha ran out to meet Jesus and told him if he had been there, her brother would not have died.
