A Jewish scribe came to Jesus and asked him a question, because he wanted to see how Jesus would answer. He asked what he would have to do to obtain everlasting life. Jesus asked him what the law said, he answered that it is said to love God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind, and you should love your neighbour as yourself.
